The Heart Behind Thai Origin Massage

My name is Penny, and I am the founder of Thai Origin Massage.

To understand the energy and intention I bring to my practice, it helps to understand the roots I grew from. I was born to a Thai mother and a Chinese father, who immigrated to Thailand with his parents as a young child in 1946, immediately following World War II.

My father was a deeply hardworking man, the eldest son of his family, who built and ran his own commercial fishery business, providing a livelihood for forty to fifty employees and their families alongside his own.

My dedicated mother was a fishmonger, managing the business on shore while raising nine children and caring for an extended family.

From them, I learned the true meaning of dedication and resilience.

I hail from Samut Prakan, Thailand, located just thirty minutes from the heart of Bangkok. I spent the majority of my life studying and working within the bustling energy of Bangkok and Samut Prakan.

Later, I relocated to Amata Nakorn in Chonburi upon marrying my French-Canadian former husband. We met in 2000, he relocated to Thailand in 2003, and following the birth of our first child, we made the pivotal decision to move to Gatineau, Quebec, Canada, in the fall of 2008. We chose this vibrant community to give our newborn a truly bilingual environment. I have lived here ever since, proudly holding my Canadian-Thai citizenship.

From the Corporate World to Independent Creation

Before transitioning fully into the healing arts, my path was deeply rooted in business and corporate leadership. For twelve years—from mid-1996 to mid-2008—I served as an assistant marketing manager for Jotun, a global Norwegian firm founded in 1926 operating in over one hundred countries, with Thailand serving as its Far East gateway.

Alongside my demanding corporate career at Jotun, I was also an entrepreneur. Between 2006 and 2008, right before moving to Canada, I operated my own small garment factory, managing eighteen industrial machines and employing twelve staff members.

I understand the intense pressure, responsibility, and exhaustion that comes with high-level corporate and entrepreneurial life. I know what it feels like to carry the weight of a business on your shoulders.

Perception, Reflection, and the Multiverse

People often describe me as goal-oriented, dedicated, and straight-forward—an "all-in or all-out" personality with a quiet, compassionate heart. They see an old soul with a child-like curiosity, someone who has a strong physical presence--a resting bitch face(RBF)--who deeply dislikes drama or nonsense.

However, I do not define my identity by how others perceive me. I know that our upbringing, geography, social norms, belief systems, and past traumas heavily dictate how we see the world.

When someone forms an opinion of me—whether they lean toward connection or disconnection—it is simply a reflection of their own internal architecture, expectations, and personal history. It has very little to do with who I actually am.

I choose to see myself as a single speck of dust spinning within the vastness of the multiverse. This perspective gives me the wisdom to know when to step back, when to surrender to the Unknown, and when to let go of situations to preserve my own peace and self-love.

I approach life through the lens of Yin-Yang philosophy—understanding that every coin has two sides, and that we ultimately receive the exact energy we put out into the world.

Having experienced firsthand connections with Spirit and the Unseen since my childhood, I know that our existence is a continuous transformation of energy from one life to the next.

When I look at human beings, I look far beyond the superficial veil. I let karma unfold with its own natural compassion. My ultimate priority is protecting a state of absolute peace.

About Thai Origin Massage

I founded Thai Origin Massage here in Gatineau with a very clear, uncompromised vision: to provide a space for real structural healing, deep restoration, and unshakeable peace. I deliberately leave the pressure of hyper-growth, hustle culture, and corporate urgency outside my doors.

The name Thai Origin is my commitment to the raw, foundational roots of ancient healing. I do not treat Thai massage as a generic spa trend, a luxury pampering session, or a superficial marketing gimmick. My work honors the true clinical and spiritual essence of traditional Thai medicine—tracing the Sen Prathan Sib (the ten main energy pathways) and balancing the five elements of earth, water, fire, air, and space. It is a spiritual practice that manifests directly in the physical realm.

No Gimmicks. No Forced Interactions.

I choose to run this practice with complete honesty and realism. Humans are a complex creatures, and we all spend our hard-earned time, money, and energy on what brings us true fulfillment—just as we all prefer different flavors, paces, and lifestyles. Some prefer a five-star restaurant, while others just want a quick meal to sustain their hustle. I hold zero judgment for your choices. You will find no forced interactions here.

Redefining Authenticity

A lot of people think they know traditional Thai massage because they traveled somewhere and received a dry massage stretching on a floor mat with clothes on. They accuse anything else of being unauthentic.

But the floor mat is just a historical setting, not a clinical principle. Authentic Thai medicine can be practiced on a platform, a bed, or a massage table, with or without oils and medicinal balms.

The setup doesn't matter. What matters is that the therapist actually knows what they are doing, why they are doing it, and how it anatomically impacts your underlying system.

I adapt my physical format to suit the North American climate and regulations, but my focus remains strictly and reverently locked onto the traditional energy pathways.

A Multidisciplinary Vision for Healing

As a licensed massage therapist with a B.Sc. in Psychology, a background in international marketing, and over fifty years of rich, vulnerable life experiences—including nearly two decades of raising my children independently in a foreign country—I bring a unique perspective to my clients.

My goal is to offer you far more than just the physical manual skills required to soothe structural chronic pain. I aim to share the deep, contrasting philosophies of the East and the West, offering insights that can inspire, uplift, or act as a gentle wake-up call for self-awareness.

I believe that genuine trust and healthy relationships begin completely within oneself. Our characters, happiness, and peace of mind are profoundly shaped by our immediate environments—especially the family dynamics and the five people we interact with most. These close relationships have a tremendous ripple effect on our self-esteem, self-love, and self-actualization, moving outward into our workplaces, our local community, and society at large.

Embracing the Human Journey

At our core, human beings are social creatures striving to understand our unique purpose. We yearn to be creators of our own lives rather than passive followers.

We look to understand relationship dynamics so we can avoid emotional fatigue, step away from abusive or exhausting environments, to find profound happiness.

Yet, we cannot deny that while birth brings endless miracles, navigating this earthly existence inherently involves elements of suffering. That is why so many seek a deeper alignment—a sense of ultimate peace and resolution.

I share my story, my insights, and my practice out of a place of deep respect and care. My intention is to help you understand your own internal dynamics so you can improve your well-being across every layer of your existence: physical, mental, psychological, emotional, and spiritual.

If my journey, my philosophy, and my specialized approach resonate with you, the doors of Thai Origin Massage are always open.

The Philosophy of Thai Origin Massage

My practice is deeply guided by the objective, sometimes harsh laws of mother nature. After more than 50 years of living on this earth plane, I know for a fact that true living begins when you learn to let go of everything you fear to lose.

When you love a flower, you don't pluck it to claim ownership over it. You water it to keep it alive until it naturally reaches its end, and then you have no choice but to let it go.

But before your energy flows unconditionally, you must ensure you are planting into a healthy environment. You cannot waste your valuable lifeforce watering a dead seed in toxic soil and hazardous environments, expecting it to grow. If you desire a rose, you don't nurture weeds. You clear the surrounding weeds away so they don't deplete your resources and leave your good seed to wither.

The Toughness of the Soul

Every individual’s timeline for recovery is completely unique. Some seeds take three months to bloom, some take five years to bear fruit, and others take twenty years of deep, quiet survival. The longer a system takes to break through the darkness, the tougher and more grounded it ultimately becomes.

There is a profound reason why a beautiful, fragrant rose grew sharp thorns to protect its peace. Human beings are no different. Male, female, LGBTQ+, transgender, or carrying a hidden chromosome a like—our souls have no gender, labels, or age. We all carry unique protections shaped by our environments, and we all require the same fundamental care.

In my space, I look far behind the superficial veil of your symptoms. By merging modern health sciences with the deep energetic insights of ancient Nuad Sen (Thai medical pressure point therapy), I work directly to dissolve localized biochemical imbalance or metabolic waste that prohibit your joys, movement and growths.

I approach life through a Yin-Yang philosophy—understanding that every coin has two sides, and that we ultimately receive the exact energy we represent.

I choose to pour my resources into continuous growth and continuous learning so I can offer you a space of genuine competency.

Knowledge is expensive, but not knowing is far more expensive than the knowledge.

If my journey, my blunt honesty, and my specialized approach resonate with your spirit and principles, you are warmly welcome here.

Our Living Principles

At Thai Origin Massage, we observe the universe through objective truth:

Love is not what you say; love is what you do.

True care is an action, a dedicated practice of hands and intention.

Love is not a transactional give-and-take; it is a fluid giving and receiving. It requires openness's, balanced channels of energy.

Love is not subjective; it is objective.

It operates on universal laws. As within, so without. As above, so below.

We can learn everything we need to know from mother nature if we simply pay attention.

In our studio, we apply these exact insights to your physical and energetic systems. We help you clear out the "weeds" of chronic pain, emotional stress, and biochemical congestion so your natural lifeforce has the room it needs to bloom.

As I always believe, knowledge is expensive, but not knowing is more expensive than the knowledge. Investing in your health and understanding your body is the ultimate self-investment.

Thai Origin Massage is here to provide you with a grounded, knowledgeable, and deeply patient space to support your natural growth—at your own pace, on your own terms.
